Net Beans began in 1996 as Xelfi (word play on Delphi), a Java IDE student project under the guidance of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. k formed a company around the project and produced commercial versions of the Net Beans IDE until it was bought by Sun Microsystems in 1999. Since then, the Net Beans community has continued to grow.The Net Beans Platform is a reusable framework for simplifying the development of Java Swing desktop applications.The Net Beans IDE bundle for Java SE contains what is needed to start developing Net Beans plugins and Net Beans Platform based applications; no additional SDK is required. Any application can include the Update Center module to allow users of the application to download digitally-signed upgrades and new features directly into the running application.Reinstalling an upgrade or a new release does not force users to download the entire application again.In next step we specify installation folder for Glassfish v2 and which JDK it uses.We need to suply username and password for the admin user, too.Net Beans 7.4 is released and this is guide with screenshots, howto install Net Beans 7.4 on Fedora 20/19/18/17/16/15, Cent OS 6.5/5.10 and Red Hat (RHEL) 6.5/5.10.The Net Beans IDE (integrated development environment) is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris.

To install the SDK, download and unzip it, update build.$.properties file as described in the PDF file.

The Net Beans project consists of an open-source IDE and an application platform that enable developers to rapidly create web, enterprise, desktop, and mobile applications using the Java platform, as well as Java FX, PHP, Java Script and Ajax, Ruby and Ruby on Rails, Groovy and Grails, and C/C .

You have to install Sun’s Java, because Net Beans won’t currently run with Open JDK.

I installed Net Beans to my home folder and not to Ubuntu default location.
